Building Indiana’s Circular Economy for the Next 200 Years Pt. 5

This workshop is for you. You are invited to join us at a workshop dedicated to making the circular economy mainstream in our region.

The workshop is the first in a series of events organized throughout Indiana in 2016. We will explore the best strategies, local initiatives and the social, technological, business, community innovations that support the transition to a circular economy in Indiana.

You will engage in an interactive exercise on how to apply the principles of a circular economy to your business model and value chain.You will gain the knowledge, inspiration, and confidence to become partners in the regional circular economy and will leave with valuable ideas on practical changes that can promote overall economic, social, and ecological well-being and lead to a positive, lasting impact on your community.

Who Should Attend?

Engineers, entrepreneurs, educators, students, designers, manufacturers, business leaders, renewable energy professionals, supply chain managers, sustainability professionals, urban planners, city managers, farmers and others interested in learning about building the circular economy are encouraged to attend. Please pass this along to friends and colleagues who might be interested.

The workshop will be managed and run by a team of entrepreneurs and professionals:

Austin Kasso is the founder and Executive Director of Red Giant Union. He grew up in New York and moved to Indiana to study agriculture, when he was 18 years old. He has been passionate about sustainable economics since high school. Five years later, he founded the nonprofit Red Giant Union, to build towards his vision of an abundance and variety of locally grown produce.

Gwendolen B. White is the founder of Sustainability Within Reach LLC, a sustainability consulting firm specializing in sustainability reporting, sustainability strategy development, and assurance preparedness. She speaks at national and international conferences on sustainability reporting. She is a GRI Certified Trainer with the ISOSGroup.

Silvia Leahu-Aluas is the founder of Sustainable Manufacturing Consulting, a consulting firm specializing in sustainable manufacturing and the circular economy. She is dedicated to the revival of US domestic manufacturing and works within a network of great consultants and organizations to make the circular economy the new model for sustainable and prosperous US industrial regions.

The workshop will be managed for low environmental impact by purchasing carbon offsets and sourcing locally-made and recyclable/compostable materials used during the event.

Our event is free to attend, but requires registration. We do welcome donations. We also welcome sponsorships, either in-kind or monetary, for which the sponsor will receive verbal recognition at the start of the workshop, one registration, and their logo and website link on the workshop web presence and all related materials. Monetary sponsorships may range from 0 to 00. In-kind sponsorships may include meeting space, event promotion, transportation, carbon offset certificates, local organic plant seeds or tree seedlings, local organic food and beverages.
